Larry Johnson
Johnson on working with opposing party
Lawmakers from the opposing party have demonstrated a total contempt for middle class America and for the American people in general over the last 7 ½ years. In nearly every case they have voted the interests of wealth and power over humanity and decency and have quite literally derailed democracy in the public interest. It is “they” who will need to work with “us” to set our country back on track and not vise versa.
I do not have a single “highest priority” as there are so many issues which the voters of the 21st District have identified as “highest priority” in their minds. My highest priorities will be creating jobs in this district, stopping runaway deficit spending (ending the wars), implementing the Steve Haze water plan (jobs), working to bring electrification to our personal and public transportation system (electric cars and trucks), universal healthcare and universal education (K – 4 year university). Yes, we need a balanced federal budget BUT we need to balance our societies humanity first.
Johnson on Bush Administration
The biggest mistake of the bush administration was to use lies, ½ truths, sophistry and misdirection to manipulate American’s Patriotism in order to get us into an invasion of a country which was of no threat to us and to erode our personal liberties. I don’t think that most American really realize the attack that has and continues to take place on our civil liberties. Of course, we never do really understand until the banging on the door in the middle of the night – and then it becomes crystal clear, albeit way too late.
I cannot think of any “best” accomplishment of this administration unless it is its departure at the end of its term.
Johnson on Democratic-controlled Congress
The biggest mistake of the Democratic controlled Congress is its failure to hold the administration accountable for its blatant and arrogant misuse of power.
Its best accomplishment so far is passage of the Farm Bill although they do seem to have made a mess of the process which will cause further delay.
Johnson on local earmarks
Yes. Local earmarks benefit the local area and thereby us and our neighbors.
